Teresa Hernandez today, officially signed the American for Tax Reform Tax payer protection pledge. “I believe the American people are fed up with politicians who can’t live within their means” said Teresa Hernandez. “I want voters of the 32nd district to know that I will not support any tax increases. As a business owner I have to live and operate within a budget and if my revenue declines I have to adjust accordingly. Congress should have to do the same! I think it’s time that Congress realized that there isn’t an unlimited amount of tax payer money to fund their out of control spending”.
Today, I also want the voters to know my top priorities when elected to Congress. My four major areas of focus are transportation, public safety, immigration reform and the environment. I believe we need to secure more resources for our Police and Fire departments to increase training, technology and manpower for crime fighting efforts. We need to return our regions fair share of federal tax dollars in grants for street repair and maintenance. We also need to rebuild the interchange of the 10 and 605 freeways and extend the Goldline from Pasadena to the County line. On the environmental front, I will push for cleanup of our contaminated groundwater in the San Gabriel Valley and complete the Emerald Necklace open space and recreation plan from Angeles National Forest to Whittier Narrows. Another priority of mine is to fix our broken immigration system. We need to take a comprehensive approach which includes first and foremost securing our borders.
As a Republican, I am very pleased to have the endorsement of the California Republican Congressional Delegation, the Los Angeles County Republican Central Committee, the California Republican Assembly and the Young Republicans Federated of California. I am also very honored to have the endorsement of many local elected officials; State Senator Bob Huff, Covina Mayor Walt Allen, Rosemead Mayor Maggie Clark, Rosemead City Council members Steven Ly and Sandra Amrenta, Rowland Unied School District Board Member Heidi Gallegos, former West Covina Mayors, Kathy Howard and Dr. Forest Tennant.
My campaign is about sending a message to Congress that it is time for a reality check. Every election we send career politicians to Congress and what results have we gotten? I am a wife, a mother, and a small business owner. I have been very successful in all of those endeavors, but every day I have to make tough decisions. I have to manage 80 employees, raise my four children, balance a budget, pay all the bills and obey all the rules. If I can do it, why can’t Congress?”
